It sounds so much better than modern surround receivers, you will be amazed. Also, unlike newer digital receivers this Marantz was built to last decades.
Serviced in May 2015, cleaned in and out, new lamps installed, new thermo grease applied, cold solder joints re-flowed with fresh solder, all controls and switches deoxidized and lubed with Deoxit D5 and F5 for static-free sound, rail voltage set to 35V, bias voltages set to 15 mV L/R, per factory specs.
Those values are very important for stability and sound quality of any amplifier.
All output transistors are original Marantz transistors.
This Marantz model may look similar to 2230, but it sounds different, deeper and richer and more dynamic, because of use of 4 matched TO-66 for each channel, and overall different circuitry. Also, it comes with 5-mode Dolby switch, including Dolby FM.
